Teen Programs

 

Ready Fit

ReadyFit is a series of personalized fitness programs designed for everybody by the YMCA of Greater Rochester.  Whether you are just beginning to exercise or you've been exercising for years, ReadyFit has a personalized program to meet your specific needs.  The series of ReadyFit programs utilizes the new, advanced FitLinxx technology.

Selecting a ReadyFit Plan.... 
Your coach will help you find a plan right for you:

The Fit Plan - designed for experienced exercisers 13 years of age and older.  This result-oriented plan includes cardiovaculars, strength and flexibility.

The Ready Plan - personalized 12-week plan for new and returning exercisers 12 years of age and older.  This gradual, structured approach to exercise offers four one-to-one appointments with your ReadyFit Coach, with the expectations that you will work out three times for 12 weeks.  This routine will increase your rate of success to develop and maintain a physically active lifestyle.

Got Strength?  Teen Strength Training Program

Improve strength, cardiovascular endurance and flexibility with our strength training program created for young adults.  Participants will be introduced to various forms of resistance training techniques, cardiovascular programs, flexibility exercises, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, as well as Wellness Center etiquette.  A Fitness Assessment is completed at the beginning and end of the session to measure personal progress.  Successful completion of the Got Strength  program is required for Twelve year olds to use the Wellness Center.  All participants receive a "Got Strength?" t-shirt and a certificate of completion upon successful completion of the Got Strength Program.

 Circuit Beginner Level

This beginner level, 32 minute circuit will have you gain confidence, strength and endurance.  Teens and preteens age 10-12 (with a parent) my enjoy this circuit together. For available days and times please refer to the Group Excerise Schedule.

Jr. Teen Nights

This program runs September -May
The Teen City Northwest will be opened to 4th and 5th graders on the last Saturday night of each month from
7:00-9:30 pm.  Activities include swimming, open Teen City and gym activities.

Free for members, $10 for non members.
No registration is required.

Teen Nights

This programs runs October-June 
The Teen City Northwest will be opened to 6-12 graders on the first Saturday night of each month from
7:00-10:00pm.  Activities include DJ and dancing, open Teen City and gym activities. 

Free for members, $10 for non members.
No registration is required.

Teen Time

Afterschool program open to students 6-9th grades, Monday-Friday from 2:30-6:30pm.  See daily schedule below.  Special Friday field trips may incur additional cost.  Space is limited to 25 participants.

Teen Break Club

(6th-9th grade)  A great way for teens to spend their days when school is not in session.  The program is held at the YMCA.  Activities include use of Teen City, Gym Games, team building activities and swimming.  Pick up a registration form at the Northwest Family YMCA or call 227-3900.

Teens need to bring a bag lunch, swimsuit, towel and a positive attitude!

Time:  7:00am-6:00pm

LEADERS & JUNIOR LEADERS

Children in grades 4th and 5th attending Family Prime Time will now have the opportunity to participate in our Junior Leaders Club on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the Month from 6:30 " 7:30pm.  This activity is free to our members.

Its mission is to develop a sense of social responsibility through volunteerism within the YMCA and in the outside community.  We will work on personal growth, team building and the development of individual leadership qualities.  This club will promote character development by stressing values such as caring, respect, responsibility, honesty and at the same time offer fun times and opportunities for new friendships.

 

Some of the upcoming projects include:

 

     - Assisting with creating posters for Food drives, Holiday Gift Trees,  mitten/hat drives.

  - Creating gifts, centerpieces and artwork for seniors in area nursing homes.

  - Sending greeting cards to shut ins, the in firmed and Meals on Wheels clients

 

 

We thank you for allowing us work with your young teens and truly believe that they are our tomorrow's leaders.  Each week you child participates they will accumulate points towards a Jr. YLeaders T-shirt. Participants are required to have 16-pts to be eligible to receive this award.     

          

Leaders Club

Join us on the first Saturday of the month in the Teen Center from 6:00-7:00pm.  Teens in grades 6th and up will spend the first half hour working on a volunteer project or a team building activity.  The last half hour we will work together setting up for that nights Teen Night!  Putting up tables, organizing the concession stand or helping set up the DJ's area. THEN STAY FOR THE TEEN NIGHT!!!



This is a unique program designed to provide teens with opportunities to do volunteer service and develop leadership skills.  Participants meet new people, help others, and learn about themselves and their community.

Teen City Rentals

Need a place to have your teen's Birthday party? Is your team looking for a place to celebrate a victory?  Teen City Northwest is now available for parties!  Call 723-5472 to reserve your party today!  Choose from one of the following packages:

Traditional:  Includes use of Teen City, birthday cake, ice cream, pizza and drink.

Swimming:  Includes one hour of swimming, plus pizza and one hour use of Teen City.
Movie Plus:  Includes your choice of movie shown in Teen City, plus popcorn, pizza and soda.  Movies must be preapproved.

The main gym available upon request

Age Requirements:  12+
Times:  Sat and Sun 1:00-3:00pm or 3:45-5:45pm.  Additional Teen City hours available for community youth groups.

Fees:  $155/$180 for a 2 hour party-up to 12 people, $8 per each additional person after 12, $30 non-refundable deposit required to hold date.  Balance due 24 hours before party.
